RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ Talent 1: The most powerful form of granting RES to allies in a game where such utility is extremely scarce.
+ S3: Powerful combination of Arts damage mitigation and healing-per-second with a very large AoE that virtually guarantees fellow Operators’ safety from any Arts Damage.
+ S3: Very long duration skill that’s also near-helidroppable, having only a 5 second wind-up at Mastery 3.
+ Talent 2: Can summon phantoms that can be placed on open tiles to draw enemy attacks. These ignore deploy limit.
= S2: A serviceable secondary skill for when S3 is overkill, but it doesn’t boost actual healing ability and is focused purely on Arts damage mitigation.
- S3: Massively long downtime. Immediately retreating and redeploying is actually faster for maintaining S3 uptime.
- In situations where Arts damage is manageable, Nightingale is usually outshined by Medics with better healing-per-second or more generic utility, such as Eyjafjalla the Hvit Aska, Lumen, and Ptilopsis.
Operator Overview
A prisoner of her own mind and a victim of a dark past, Nightingale is an expert on the functions of the human body and excels in healing through the Arts. She is a 6★ Multi-target Medic that stands out as the game’s best defensive answer to Arts damage.
Nightingale’s Talent 1, White Fiend’s Protection, is the defining aspect of her kit. Simply by having allies within her healing range, Nightingale is able to significantly mitigate any Arts damage that may come their way through her ability to grant them a large amount of RES. The ability to provide RES is extremely unique among the game’s many operators, with the only other way to do so, as of writing, being through Bassline’s module-boosted Talent, which has more restrictive range and provides only up to a third of what Nightingale can provide with just White Fiend’s Protection alone! Through five years of the game, and among immense amounts of recent powercreep, Nightingale is still by far the best option for Arts mitigation. Nightingale’s Talent 2, Fleeting Phantom, complements her kit by providing generic utility through the deployable namesake Phantoms, which draw enemy fire to give your team some breathing room.
While Nightingale has three skills, it is her S3, Sanctuary, which keeps her relevant as a powerful endgame option in extreme scenarios that feature overwhelming Arts damage. Sanctuary is a near-helidrop, high uptime skill that provides a set of effects dedicated to keeping entire teams alive through what would otherwise be lethal Arts. For starters, the ATK boost helps Nightingale’s ability to keep allies topped up by boosting her healing numbers. More importantly, Sanctuary expands Nightingale’s range and boosts the RES of her allies even further, both of which synergize exceptionally with her talent White Fiend’s Protection—the range expansion not only also increases her healing zone but also the area her Talent covers, and the +150% increase to RES is applied on top of the RES her talent grants, which lets even Operators with zero base RES accumulate a significant amount that lets them take on strong Arts with ease. As a cherry on top, Sanctuary even grants 25% Arts Dodge, an unreliable yet nevertheless welcome buff that hammers home the idea that, indeed, your Operators are virtually invincible to Arts damage while the skill is active.
Still, Sanctuary does also have a massively long downtime. In the hardest kinds of content where the uptime of her S3 matters, it can be necessary to retreat and redeploy her purely to circumvent the otherwise 2-minute long wait (though it helps that deploying her again also gives you another set of Phantoms on top of any that were saved). A much bigger weakness of Nightingale, however, is that she falls off relative to other Medics in content where Arts damage isn’t overwhelming enough to necessitate her. Medics such as Lumen, Eyjafjalla the Hvit Aska, Ptilopsis, and even Perfumer tend to be better investments in the early stages of a Doctor’s career due to their more generalist utility and / or better healing numbers. Relative to these alternatives, Nightingale’s utility is more situational and typically shines more in specific boss fights and endgame scenarios.
Her Module, RIN-X: Closed Hope, attempts to bridge the gap a bit with a small boost to her healing numbers, but the Module’s higher levels are generally not a good investment relative to the gains. However, the module’s base effect of increasing Nightingale’s range is quite powerful as it gives White Fiend’s Protection one more beneficiary, and the +5 RES is generally well-utilized in Nightingale’s kit and the situations she’d see use in. Nightingale also does have a serviceable secondary skill in her S2, Arts Shield, which grants a barrier that blocks only Arts damage and increases their RES. However, while this skill can be used in situations where her S3 is outright excessive, its use case also tends to overlap with situations where a different Medic would shine instead, especially considering Arts Shield only provides damage mitigation without any boost to Nightingale’s healing—in situations where the excessive Arts damage mitigation of Sanctuary is unnecessary, Arts damage is generally manageable enough to not require Nightingale at all, which renders her S2 only truly usable in hyper-specific situations or when no similarly leveled Medic alternative is available. Overall, the combination of Nightingale and her Sanctuary is a powerful tool that makes dealing with difficult Arts-heavy stages much easier, yet Nightingale is also so specialized that she tends to be better off relegated as a down-the-line investment for more developed rosters.
Newbie Tier List Explanation
Hard-counters Arts DPS enemies, but has limited utility beyond that. Medics with more generic utility or better healing numbers tend to be better investments. She is a specialized unit that’s better off invested into only once your core roster has been established
Elite Promotion Discussion
-
3rd Skill - Sanctuary - Provides a ton of healing output to a very large range and pretty much negates Arts damage by providing a huge boost to Arts Resistance and a sizable Arts Evade. The bane of enemy Casters, this Skill alone can trivialize difficult Arts Damage based content. It also has a very long 60 second duration and first use is available rather quickly after deployment, making it a great “extended burst healing” Skill. The downsides are pretty obvious, though: an incredibly long cooldown and no physical damage mitigation. If you want to get physical with your Operators, best to look elsewhere.
-
Talent 2 - Fleeting Phantom - A really interesting strategic option is added to her kit: the ability to place “Phantoms” to aggro enemy ranged damage. The Phantoms have high resistance, decent physical evade, and are super scary, making them great for use to redirect annoying enemy Caster or Sniper fire and give your healers some breathing room.
- Talent 1 upgrade - White Fiend’s Protection - A decent boost to her Resistance buff, useful when she is being used for her niche strength.

S3M3 | A | A+ | S- | |
S2M1 | Breakpoint | |||
S2M3 | C | C | C+ |
In some ways, Nightingale is the most broken unit in the game. No other unit can shut down an entire mechanic (Arts Damage) as well as she can. Her extreme ability to do so is likely why it took over four years before another unit, Bassline, also got the ability to directly buff friendly RES, and even he is a minor footnote in comparison.
However, some caution before Mastery investment is warranted. With how the game is balanced, Nightingale is never a necessary solution outside of some extreme end-game circumstances. In many of the places she is most powerful in (eg. Chapter 8), she is sufficient at SL7, and in situations where the RES isn't necessary, she is frequently worse than lower rarity Medics. This makes Mastery tricky. Generally speaking, you should prioritize DPS above all else, but Nightingale's S3 is so powerful in the situations it matters that it is worth considering among the first support-type Masteries. Advanced and Roguelike players especially will want to prioritize her higher, and she is particularly valuable in IS#3.
Another consideration for Mastery is her S2. While it is nowhere near as powerful as her S3, its consistency can be appealing given S3’s massive cooldown. However, investment beyond the M1 breakpoint is a luxury, even if the gains at M3 are quite nice.

Module Analysis
Operator Impact: Medium
Meta Use: Medium
Explanation: The primary reason to use Nightingale is her S3, which already has an expanded range that includes the range expansion of the Module and more. Thus, the Module only matters during less threatening times when S3 isn't active and only covers a single additional tile, so it will only matter when you need to cover an Operator specifically in that spot with normal healing. Thus, it won't matter very often, but when it IS useful, it can open up strategic uses for her that are not possible otherwise. A solid part of the Module not to be overlooked is the RES she gains, which is amplified by her S3, giving herself up to 12.5 extra RES at M3 when the skill is active.

Clinical Analysis

Operator Nightingale showed conspicuous symptoms of infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.41u/L
Far beyond average. Close medical monitoring of Operator Nightingale is recommended.
Nightingale's condition is more severe compared to the average Infected, and she has other problems as well. She showed obvious lapse of memory different from that of the Doctor, in that the cause seemed to be medication or possibly even a chemical serum that affected neural transmission. Combined with her endocrine and nervous system, plus traces throughout her body, we could confirm, after internal discussion with the medical staff, that Oripathy is not the sole culprit for Nightingale's condition.
It was good that Shining brought Nightingale here, no matter how you cut it. At least at Rhodes Island we can offer the poor girl a relatively free environment for her to deal with the problems.
Sadly, as one of the most skilled healers I know and someone who could easily discern symptoms and their sources, she ironically could not do the same for herself. How mockingly cruel is that?
—Y.P., Medic Operator

Increase Trust to 50.Operator Nightingale also possessed unique Originium Arts: She can generate an invisible field around herself to mitigate, or even complete neutralize, powerful Originium energy attacks initiated by enemies. Operators not familiar with Originium Arts dubbed this field the 'Sanctuary.'
Dr. Kal'tsit suspects Nightingale's healing talent shares the same source as the other Originium Arts she displayed, though the conjecture has not been proven to date.

Increase Trust to 100.When she first arrived on the island alongside Shining and Nearl, Shining expressed her wish for the island to offer Nightingale comprehensive physical exams and a treatment plan.
Memory loss, deficient mobility in limbs, ■■■■, ■■■■■■...
The Medic Operators all lamented at the test results. In addition to Oripathy, the other debilitating symptoms she suffered have exacerbated her condition and have far graver consequences.
Given the situation, Shining quietly answered all of Dr. Kal'tsit's questions--including the revelation of many classified projects.
Following that inquiry, Rhodes Island accepted Nightingale for medical treatment.
Archive File 3
Increase Trust to 150.Dr. Kal'tsit and Operator Shining fought over the issue. Their debate changed Dr. Kal'tsit's mind. Despite vehement protests from the medical staff, the Doctor still agreed with Shining and approved Nightingale as an Operator to serve Rhodes Island.
Although Operator Nightingale is still facing many physical problems and is unable to protect herself in combat, she has surprised many with her ability to turn the tide of a battle. During the course of fighting alongside her, Operators have realized that she longs to prove her worth with her actions, and that converted their attitude for her from pity to admiration.
Nightingale's inscrutable disposition and cool personality let many Operators realize the cruel truth of the land, but also the importance of Rhodes Island.
Now, Miss Nightingale can be seen occasionally speaking with Operators other than Shining or Nearl in the hallway, sometimes even with a faint smile. The author, for one, finds joy in that.
Archive File 4
Increase Trust to 200.Her emotions aren't just a blank sheet of paper or a tangled ball of twine. Her mood and thoughts are an impenetrable cell, sealing endless fragments of memory to trap her in herself. I can't even fathom whether she wanted this out of her own will. She probably no longer is able to distinguish herself from her imaginary persona, or reality from illusion.
We can go in only when Miss Nightingale chooses to come out.
It is near impossible and very sad.
Shining said Miss Nightingale is the sacrificial lamb of a war, a civil war... inside her own mind
She's trapped in a small space, stripped of her identity and robbed of her life...
It's happening in places I can't detect even now.
Dr. Kal'tsit didn't want me to get involved, but I felt obligated.
Shining rescued Miss Nightingale from there, but I think Nightingale never really left. She often feels confined, incarcerated, still a bird in a cage.
I believe I have a duty.
With Shining, Nearl, and the Doctor, I'll do everything I can, as I don't think of Miss Nightingale as merely a friend.

Upgrade to Elite LV2.You're doing a great disservice with a description like this in a report.
I don't know what Nightingale's been through, but as soon I saw the giant bird cage appeared out of the blue, I sensed it.
It wasn't a bird cage but a cell. I felt the same indescribable loneliness, or better yet, fear coming over me like the enemy did.
Nightingale saved my life, but I cannot thank her. I just don't have the guts.
I just think you should... you should...
stop letting her go on like this, I beg you!
