RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ S1: Fast wind-up and cycle time (at the time of this writing, the fastest wind up at M3 of any attack buffer.)
+ Block-count manipulation is unique among buffers.
- Her buffs can't stack with others from the Archetype, and there exist better options (e.g. Skadi the Corrupting Heart.)
- Block-count manipulation can be daunting (especially for newer players) and is often not useful.
- Low up-time on S1 is often not enough for big targets.
- Like most buffers, it's usually better to just bring an additional DPS instead.
Operator Overview
“Teaching a group of barehanded commoners to stand off against Sarkaz warriors—hard to believe, even for them. Some advised me not to even waste time trying… But when I met Kal’tsit, I was still very tender myself. The small and weak have their own strength, by all rights.”
Heidi is the wealthy daughter of a poet in the County of Toron whose life was changed forever when she met Kal’tsit at a debutante ball. Starstruck with admiration for the dapper doctor, Heidi volunteered to assist Rhodes Island as a spy and messenger, infiltrating galas and other high-end functions in order to ferret out the secrets of the aristocracy. Unfortunately for her, she was found out and arrested in time for Arknights Chapter 10, and she must be freed before she can return to the squad as a 5* Bard Supporter who buffs ally stats and manipulates their Block count.
Simply being around Heidi is good for the soul. In addition to the healing that Bard Supporters grant to nearby allies, Heidi’s Crafty Rebel E1 Talent increases the ATK (if equipped with her S1) or DEF (if equipped with her S2) of all nearby allies. Even more powerful is her Private Messenger E2 Talent. It only functions in Chapter 10 maps, but it increases the SP recovery rate of allies within range, super-charging most [Per Second] Skill users.
When an ally is ready to use a Skill is a great time to activate Heidi’s S1, “Tale of Fiction: A Warrior’s Anger.” For a brief duration, this Skill grants a huge ATK buff to all allies within range, but also reduces their Block count. The “Tale of Fiction: Rust” S2 is the exact opposite, gifting increased max HP, DEF, Block count, and healing from Heidi’s Trait to all allies within range.
Heidi’s rousing speeches can rapidly turn the tide of battle, especially in Chapter 10 maps, where Private Messenger is active and her Block count manipulation can help you “control” the Londinium Secondary Defense Artillery’s targeting. However, even on Chapter 10 maps, improper use of Heidi’s Skills is a quick way to lose a map. Did you just proc A Warrior’s Anger on Mudrock? Was she Blocking anything? She isn’t anymore! Did you use Tale of Fiction: Rust so Popukar can hit three targets instead of two? Sure hope she can survive the extra damage from blocking an additional target!
Heidi’s Block count manipulation can be a very powerful tool when leveraged correctly, but it takes a lot of consideration that other Bard Supporters do not demand. Combined with the fact that her E2 Talent is only active on a small handful of maps, it’s probably not worth raising Heidi for any Doctor who isn’t comfortable with their Operators suddenly gaining and losing Block count throughout a battle. However, a creative Doctor can use Heidi’s Skills to pull off many nifty tricks, such as using S1 on a burst-damage Operator (i.e., SilverAsh) just as a boss approaches (the ATK buff benefits the Skill, and the Block-reduction causes the boss to walk through the Operator rather than killing them in one strike).
Newbie Tier List Explanation
Unique support tools, but the block adjustment on her skills takes advanced planning, and she just doesn't do enough for an early game roster to warrant a roster spot nor the development costs.
Skill Discussion
S1M3 | None |
Note: This unit does not have Mastery grades. This means the unit is generally not one worth spending the resources of Mastery on. However this write-up should help with skill selection, should you want to use the unit regardless.
Heidi is an interesting unit that will appeal to the more creative types, but her Inspire buff isn’t strong enough to justify the investment for most, not to mention that it doesn’t stack with the far better Skalter. That leaves her ungraded and purely a matter of desire. If you did want to raise her, stick with her S1 first. Aside from ATK generally being more valuable, it does have some competitive numbers for the role and it has some unique niches with its 0-block and its extremely fast initial activation and likewise fast cycle time. Her S2 has uses as well, but is far more niche.

Increase Trust to 50.But though it was anticipated to a degree, her formal Rhodes Island onboarding test results still surprised operators in HR. She serves as a vital figure in the Self-Salvation Corps, and Dr. Kal'tsit's personal Messenger, yet her combat ability registered as no more than an ordinary civilian's.
'There has to be some way you defend yourself, right?' is a class of question to which Heidi lightly explains: not attracting people's attention is her best self-defense. Most times while shuttling between typical drinking parties of the gentry, she carries a mignon cane that perfectly complements her attire, and no one ever cottons on that finely crafted cane conceals an Arts Unit, let alone imagines it originates the very Arts that guide the Self-Salvation Corps.
In fact, for a very long time, this style of concealment was the only one available to the resistance of Londinium.
'Think she was there right when the Self-Salvation Corps actually formed. I remember she came by while Commander Clovisia was giving a speech. Good chunk of us thought she was a noble here to meddle with the fancy way she dressed, but she just stood on the very outside of the crowd, listening quietly. After the Commander's speech wound up, she and her both got to chatting for a while, and then Lady Heidi became one of us.'
'I didn't know what was in her ability, really. The Sarkaz army had every district other than Sudean pinned in their sights, but she could find any way to slip by the watch, get info out. That let us really get going in every little nook and cranny of Londinium. Honestly, bless her for always threading the needle.'
'I like the stories Miss Heidi tells before bedtime.'
—Citizens' Self-Salvation Corps members

Increase Trust to 100.Though she never made it big as an author, it was in fact her maiden work that got her foot in high society's door, and from there mingled with the aristocrats wherever they gathered. This can be principally attributed to her family name already having enough renown in the Victorian literary sphere. Plenty of the gentry are old friends with her father, and so they show every courtesy to the young author continuing her father's work, often bidding her to appreciate works and publish commentaries, so as to keep up her appearances. The vast majority commend Heidi's talent in succeeding her father on the literary front, believing her book sales are simply laid low by misfortune; a small portion are frank to point out that 'she's unable to escape her father's aura.'
However, Golding, whom Heidi frequently exchanges letters with, scoffs at these evaluations.
'How do others see Heidi? That's hardly important, nor does she mind. She herself chose the position of third-rate novelist. She deliberately covers life up with fictitious writing. What you see is hardly the end of her talents. I know where it is she's set on pouring her true works and ideas. It's a shame how one's private letters are forever bound to be made public posthumously, no earlier.'
'Why is this the way she does things? The present situation in Victoria is one reason, and the other... I say you ask yourselves that, Rhodes Island.'

Increase Trust to 150.For many years, the network of contacts Heidi and her father have built in Victoria has relayed info precisely as such. The Messenger accepts intel to be entered into information storage equipment, delivers it to the resident Dr. Kal'tsit at Rhodes Island, and then launches into action based on the reply.
—Those Operators who've heard of this Messenger's activities prefer to imagine Heidi as cunning and sharp, easily all things to all people, but the reality is that, onboarded at Rhodes Island, Heidi seems unexpectedly relaxed. If she has free time, you can simply ask her for the behind-the-scenes on her intel work, and she'll unabashedly tell you story after vivid story, like how she got to know a Count thanks to his taste in a brooch, or how she shrugged off the surveillance without blinking in the streets of Londinium. Moreover, all the Self-Salvation Corps members working with Rhodes Island can testify that at the very least, the part once she enters Londinium is an absolutely real tale.
'Has she ever mentioned Ella? Sorry, maybe I shouldn't be asking, but... see, we all know it wasn't Heidi's fault she died, and we completely understand how her choice was for the greater good. Heidi, though... *sigh* Look, I've seen how she unwinds around the Rhodes operators. She really does. So I'm just hoping she can chat with somebody about all of it.' —Citizens' Self-Salvation Corps member who did not give their name

Increase Trust to 200....from now on, she'll be the Thomsons' new Messenger. Since she first met you years ago, she's been ardent about wanting to correspond personally with you—to consult you on all those profusely imaginative issues of hers so particular to the youth. I think it'll be far better to make her your student, rather than let her keep using you as a character template in all her childish stories.
She's at the proud, arrogant age now, and won't take a single word of advice from me. You'll see once you receive her own letters. I say that of it all she knows precisely the half of it; she postulates and conjectures far too much about the facets of the great land you unveil in your letters, not to mention the extravagance of her ambitions.
We aspire wildly so in our younger years. It's time she sees it all for herself.
I won't deny she is prepared in part. She showed a great deal of sharp wit when we took up the Duke on his invitation; she adopted an ignorance appropriate to her age as a cover, to inquire about a great deal quite ingeniously.
Moreover, she's shown quite the timely talent for endearing others. Not that I can say it's been deliberate of her—only that she's had quite the words for me about my methods ever since I changed professions, so every time a stranger greets me on old literary circle business, she's there lukewarm, and insists on giving her own opinion or two.
You know my views. I'd rather she not write a word, speak not a thing about this, and I don't like her using 'literature' as her stepping stone into the noble circles.
Most of it is to spite me; she's at the stage where she willingly has me read all the gibberish she pens. She hasn't yet truly set foot into these lands, hence how feathery and hollow most of her writing is. I say gibberish with no exaggeration.
But there is a redeeming quality. The one and only, being... the footprints that stretch into the oak forests beyond the snow, the oil that trickles about the seams of our capital's brickwork, the whistles from freighters as they dock in the haze. It is not my wish that these phrases constitute homesickness for her some day in the future, let alone for the Victorians one and all.
Perhaps more practical terms will do. How long until we no longer have the written word to read? Even here in our remote Toron, the people can sense the dark clouds gathering over the throne, the earth tremoring, the present sprouting of the seeds the 'great figures' planted long ago.
Kal'tsit, how much longer do you believe we still have to prepare? She trusts in every word you say, and I trust that'll you'll guide her where she needs to go.
Promotion Record
Upgrade to Elite LV2.But rest assured that said curiosity for Rhodes Island's past doesn't drive her to delve too deeply, since her greatest interest is Kal'tsit herself, and she's never hounded any particular issue.
Only once, when she returned to the landship to pass on intel, did she raise her own personal request with Kal'tsit:
'Once Victoria's settled down, I'd like to tour about this land too. Would you permit that? Would you tell me—what you've seen for yourself?'

Appointed as Assistant | You need an assistant too...? Ah, I just heard a little about you from Kal'tsit. Don't mind that. Is there any work I can help with? |

Talk 1 | What a surprise, Doctor. Where did you pick up my novel? It only got praise from a few fellow writers thanks to some friendly connections; it's not worth spending your time with. Unfortunately, it's the only sort of thing I can write, given the state of Victoria. I'm sorry about that. |
Talk 2 | I have a fair insight into coordinating formalwear and jewelry, you know. Right now, though? Treat this sort of dress-up as an actor's costume. The gentry and aristocracy are all at their drinking parties trembling for dear life, putting on a play of peace, watching for an explosion without knowing when it'll come. |
Talk 3 | It's a pity you chose a bad place and time to arrive, or else I would've invited all you Rhodes Islanders to visit the theater as the Victorians do. The epic of the Aslan King owes its celebration to bards, after all, not letters on paper. Besides, my theater friends always leave me a seat. |
Talk after Promotion 1 | Kal'tsit's always called herself a doctor, but before I actually came to Rhodes Island, I couldn't understand why she'd fixated on Oripathy treatment. After all, there were so many tricky issues she could solve.I mean... Really... She could have solved anything. Anything except Oripathy... But I see now. You're bringing hope. |
Talk after Promotion 2 | Teaching a group of barehanded commoners to stand off against Sarkaz warriors—hard to believe, even for them. Some advised me not to even waste time trying... But when I met Kal'tsit, I was still very tender myself. The small and weak have their own strength, by all rights. |
Talk after Trust Increase 1 | Without even looking, I know how Golding would evaluate that book. After all, we once wrote for the same newspaper and inked practically the same sentences between two articles—no, it wasn't a rapport, just that there's few words Victoria will allow you to pronounce loudly these days. |
Talk after Trust Increase 2 | Has Amiya been sleeping well...? She really is just like Clovisia. Though their hearts have grown to the point they can bear everyone's hopes, their bodies are still so easily overwhelmed. I'll be off in a while, to see how I can help them. |
Talk after Trust Increase 3 | Ever since I was very young, I sat by my father's desk, watching him read and write. Even when writing letters to Kal'tsit, he never pushed me away. Just like he said, sooner or later I'd understand this all, and I'd have to at that. |
Idle | Oh, you fell asleep... I wonder what you dream of, Doctor? The past, perhaps? |
Onboard | I've been wanting to meet all you Rhodes Islanders since a good long time ago. Very glad to make your acquaintance again, Doctor. Just call me Heidi. |
Watching Battle Record | Oh my... This is all a lot harder to learn than what Kal'tsit taught me... |
Promotion 1 | Do you need me taking on greater responsibilities? Of course I'd be glad to; I appreciate your faith in me. But as her Messenger, it's crucial I don't draw too much attention. |
Promotion 2 | What sort of clothes should I wear to match with this 'jewelry' Rhodes Island confers on me, Doctor? |
Added to Squad | And by this, I will protect my home. |
Appointed as Squad Leader | I'll see your orders relayed to every last one. |
Depart | I have the intel for what lies ahead all sorted. Go forth with aplomb. |
Begin Operation | Let's go by the plan. |
Selecting Operator 1 | Let me witness this with my own eyes. |
Selecting Operator 2 | Is there anything you need me delivering? |
Deployment 1 | Dust, and the scent of rust... |
Deployment 2 | Give me your orders. |
In Battle 1 | 'The young prince saw the other reach for the crown, and he raised his sword.' |
In Battle 2 | 'We sing our elegy at full strain, in rivers of blood formed by fear.' |
In Battle 3 | 'The girl, expelled from the city, still returns to rescue it.' |
In Battle 4 | 'He lifted his slaughterer's blade, not believing that he could earn the love of a different line.' |
4-star Result | I venture no one could have envisaged a victory so marvelous. Doctor, it seems the intel on you needs another update. |
3-star Result | There will surely be an end to suffering. |
Sub 3-star Result | There's nowhere nearby for them to hide. I know where they're likely headed. |
Operation Failure | This is the risk we must face for the sake of ultimate victory. There are times we must bear the cost of defeat too, am I wrong? |
Assigned to Facility | I really wish Londinium's workers could have an environment as fine as this. |
Tap | Oh? I'm here if you need me. |
Trust Tap | That's odd, I wonder where my bookmark fell. |
Title | Arknights. |
