RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ Wandering Medic default range is huge already which adds a lot of flexibility in deployment.
+ She is quite overtuned, meaning expensive Masteries are less essential than they are with other 6★s.
+ S1: Set and forget! Extremely strong healing with no player input required. Can heal elemental damage off of normally unhealable allies such as Reapers, Musha, and Juggernauts.
+ S2: Even at SL7, the barrier is more than almost any enemy in the game can overcome.
+ S3: Global range. Can straight up outheal most regular damage and elemental damage in the game for a long duration.
- A long wind-up on S1 and a long down-time on S3 can lead to potential gaps in her coverage on some maps.
- S2 is her only mid-charge skill and it lacks the regular healing punch of her other skills.
- Arknights is a DPS-centric game. As good as Eyjafjalla the Hvít Aska is, the best support units still tend to lag behind the best DPS units in terms of overall roster impact.
Operator Overview

"Professor, I'm back. These are souvenirs for you. I'll give them to Dr. Kal'tsit and Amiya later. I got a lot of new data and specimens from the eruption of Siesta's volcano. Does Professor want to come and have a look?"
------------------------------------------------
Upon returning from the trip to Siesta this time, Eyjafjalla put on a protective coat that was a little too big for her, made of a quite old material, and even had a lot of signs of wear and tear on it.
While at work she would carefully tuck away the coat to keep it free of dust, but she would always wear it on field trips to the volcano, regardless of whether dust or hot debris would stain it and she would refuse to wear any other clothes.
"Why such a worn-out protective coat? Why do you have to wear it when you climb the volcano?" her fellow scholars finally couldn't help asking such a question.
Eyjafjalla caressed a yellow burn mark on the cuff, and a few sporadic tears newly added in this investigation:
"This coat is very important to me and I want it to accompany me on every volcano expedition.
"I thought it was a good decision to bring it back. I'll wear it and climb more volcanoes until I reach Una.
"... Because, this is my mother's old protective coat. Wearing it now, it doesn't feel too big anymore."

Newbie Tier List Explanation
Eyjafjalla the Hvít Aska is a great starting unit. She has a huge range making placement easy, and her healing numbers are absurd even at low investment levels. Unlike many end-game units, Eyja2 will be useful to your roster well before your economy really gets rolling. The only downside is that Arknights is a DPS-first game at all levels, so a healing-only unit will not accelerate your early pregression as well as a strong DPS carry. While Eyja2 will be a great help to your progress, she will still only be as good as the rest of your team.
Skill Discussion
S3M3 | S | S+ | S+ | |
S1M3 | A+ | A | S- |
Eyjafjalla’s alter is an interesting unit. Across this priority guide, the top graded units are almost all DPS units. It takes something truly special for a support oriented unit to shine. Eyja2 is that sort of special where the usual top priorities fall into question… or she would be if not for being ridiculously overtuned. As a general rule, Eyja2 already does her job spectacularly well at SL7, which keeps her overall grades down compared to other meta-caliber units. For those just beginning their journey into Masteries, DPS units should still take priority in spite of Eyja2’s high-end station in the meta.
For those further along and with more resource flexibility, the skill to start with depends on your philosophy as a player. S1 is her most commonly used skill, but her S3 (which is also extensively used) has much better gains. So what to invest in first, the skill you’ll use more often or the gains you’ll get more out of when needed? There isn’t an absolute answer to that! That said, this guide does ultimately have to assign grades, and I favor S3 here. The point is, adjust to your own preferences!
To go into more detail, S1 is her more commonly used skill which aligns with Eyja2’s quality-of-life attribute. Her healing is so ridiculous already that as long as you can survive the wind-up time, no other attention is usually needed regarding healing! However, the Mastery gains are notably poor. The only gain to her normal healing occurs at M3 and it’s a paltry ~7.5% difference. Most of the Mastery gain instead lies in the Elemental healing aspect, but that aspect is already strong, plus best left to her S3 when it’s insufficient. Her S1 is a great skill and any great skill is worth pursuing, but as a matter of priority, you will usually be perfectly fine with it at SL7.
Meanwhile, it’s tempting to call S3 her burst skill compared to S1’s consistency, but a very long uptime and a longer downtime make it unusual compared to other burst skills. Nevertheless, it is by far her most unique application. The global range is the most noticeable aspect, but the healing numbers are absolutely ridiculous as well. While it isn’t as “set and forget” as her S1, the burst outcomes are far better and S3’s Masteries represent much bigger gains than S1s. S3M3 clocks in at around ~17% more HPS during the skill, more than twice S1M3’s gain. Simply put, S3’s Masteries will matter more when you need them.
You can pass on her S2 Masteries, although they might be justified if you personally favor Eyja or are a true end-game maximizer. It’s a good skill, but it’s also the most overtuned. Even at SL7 the shield covers enough Elemental damage to protect against three full triggers of fallout and there is virtually nothing in the game that deals out that much that fast. Investing into the Masteries is simply overkill that’s unlikely to ever be practically useful. Note that S2M3 can allow for 100% shield uptime which might theoretically have some value, but places where that would matter over SL7 or one of her other skills are basically non-existent.

Occurrences of deafness and blurred vision have become more frequent.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.59u/L
With Rhodes Island having brought her condition under control, Operator Eyjafjalla's Blood Originium-Crystal Density has not seen a significant increase.
'Dr. Keller... My numbers haven't gone up. I'm not lying! We can't delay this field survey... Please! Believe me!'

Increase Trust to 50.At the same time, our operators have also noticed that, while her hearing loss used to be a barrier to communication, it has since become much easier to talk to her. Whenever they tell her that her condition must have improved, she just keeps smiling as she always does and tells them with a bit of pride that, while her hearing has deteriorated to the point where she can now only hear with hearing aids in a quiet environment, they're finding it easier to talk to her because she learned to read lips.
'Hearing aids really don't help me understand that much anymore, so I usually rely on both them and lip reading to understand what everyone is saying. Is it that hard to tell if you're not watching for it?
'Sometimes, after I tell others about my condition, they start to look at me kind of differently. It's not that I want to be treated differently or earn anyone's sympathy. All I really need is for everyone to interact with me as usual.'
The worrying thing is that we occasionally have operators visit Medical and tell us that they saw her talking alone by herself, and that she sometimes even seemed a little angry. They were afraid to interrupt her, but were nonetheless worried that perhaps her condition has worsened in some strange way...

'Skyfire told me they were scared to death when I got lost in the wilderness again, but they didn't expect me to suddenly appear out of nowhere in the crossroads they were in, alone. But I had a pink, fluffy critter lead me there. It even took a bite out of my book!'
'Pink, fluffy critters? They've been showing up whenever I play my guitar! Gotta say, they have great taste in music. Even when I'm jamming out in the wind, they stand out there with me, up against the gales and unleashing life! Wish they'd stop eating my strings, though.'
'Outta the way, outta the way~ Metal Crabs coming through~ These chubby little guys seem to be having a lot of fun with somebody lately; their body weight is back to normal now! I even found these pink furballs stuck to their claws. Any of you know whose pet they belong to?'

Warning
Following the disappearance of instruction materials and food stockpiles in September, the instructors have found the following discipline violations during the October inspection:
Using Originium Arts to play with toys, suspending them midair and sending them flying around; the inexplicable disappearance of ice cream ingredients meant for classes; skateboarding on the deck outside of set hours and hiding as soon as the instructors arrive.
Offending operators should report to the instructors' office immediately to acknowledge and rectify their mistakes, as well as uphold all rules and regulations to prevent further offenses.

A few days later, after a significant increase in incidents involving 'strange pink silhouettes,' Eyjafjalla had no choice but to leave her laboratory and spend what little time and energy she has dealing with the problems caused by the stealthy sheep, apologizing to everyone one-by-one, and helping everyone touch those invisible mischievous animals.
That said, it's apparent that she's also enjoying this.

Increase Trust to 150.You have my sincerest gratitude.
I know that if it weren't for your assistance in the beginning, I would likely not have received such quality healthcare. Over the past few years, I have persistently worked to complete the volcano expedition. I feel that as a volcanologist and a daughter taking over her parents' unfinished research, this is a life goal I must complete. In spite of your numerous letters, I have insisted on continuing down this path, and I apologize for making you worry.
I also know that you have been trying to uncover the truth of all those years ago, and that you've been protecting me time and again by trying to keep me from getting too involved. If it weren't for your persistence and care, I would never have learned what actually happened back then. Although the vacation itself may have helped alleviate my worries, it was you, the truth that you worked so hard to give me, and Dr. Keller's frankness in the end that truly gave me the relief I needed.
I will come visit you in Leithanien in the near future. My mother used to tell me that you would sometimes be upset when your experiments went wrong, and that you'd need my parents to bring a cake to your lab to comfort you... I really want to tell you that we can't completely prevent accidents. All we can do is hold on to every meaningful bit of time we have. I really hope you were able to finally calm down, and that you could tell me any old stories about my parents.
—Adele
Adele:
I have given this a lot of thought, but I finally decided to write you this letter. I want you to know that I am truly grateful to you.
I had decided many years ago that I would never again climb a volcano, and that this museum would be my final memento to Magna and Katia.
At first, I invited you to participate in the museum and Mt. Siesta's affairs because my work required it, and also because you are Magna and Katia's child. I had intended to retire from all research and work pertaining to volcanoes after bringing this matter to completion. I couldn't face you, nor could I face Kahn's question. I had been wondering: if I'd chosen to make them stay as well, would they not have been caught in that pyroclastic flow and lost their lives? However, I never expected you to have never questioned my involvement nor resented me.
I'm sorry, Adele. I was too harsh on you before, and it was partly because I was afraid I'd be reminded of the time I spent with your parents. My memories with them were once a heavy burden to me, but thanks to you, I can finally bring myself to put them into words again, and share them with you as simply fun anecdotes.
I await your next letter, and am preparing for our next expedition together.
—Keller

Increase Trust to 200.Naturally, we were a little worried. After all, she had been working with volcanoes both from closer distances and more often over the past few years, all to complete the project that her parents were unable to finish. This is no doubt detrimental to her health. Our Medical operators often tried to talk her out of participating in surveys, but she would always tell us a story she heard when she was still a child: of a sickly scientist bedridden with illness, but who didn't hesitate to spend what little strength she had left to continue her research. In the end, she reached a conclusion, and closed her eyes.
She asked us a question: If you were that scientist, at the final days of your life, would you rather climb a summit or spend your remaining time in bed, peacefully with your family?
We were unable to give Eyjafjalla an answer, but perhaps her answer would be to achieve both. Compared to others who've made significant breakthroughs in the field of volcanology, she is still very young. Some races can live past a hundred years, perhaps even longer, while others live a much more fleeting life. However, the length of one's life does not determine its worth. Judging from the data and research papers she's managed to put together in her dorm room, we can't help but be awestruck at how much she's already fit into her short life, and she is continually adding more.
'There are many secrets hidden across the lands under our feet. Each insignificant rock has endured far more time than even the oldest Savra.
'Underneath layers upon layers of strata, there is a chamber of magma that is ever flowing at unimaginable temperatures, while the strata themselves are slowly moving and constantly crushing one another. We once made the bold assumption that perhaps the seas were once tall mountains, and that the earth currently beneath our feet could perhaps have once reached even the clouds above. When, after traveling hundreds of thousands of miles, the earth that once saw the skies, or the bottom of the ocean, finally encounters its compatriot, they release a most radiant and blazing light.
'Throughout this process, my parents lifted their heads and pondered just what exactly it is that boils our lands' bloodstreams. And now, I am following their footsteps and walking the path they once did, to seek an answer from the land. The footsteps of future generations will likewise trample over ours as they continue down this path.
'This is the meaning of our lives.'
—The opening monologue of the volcano documentary One Step After Another, as narrated by Eyjafjalla
Promotion Record
Upgrade to Elite LV2.As her assistants, there was nothing we could do to talk her out of it...
Even before we reached the mountain, she was already starting to pass out from fatigue. She couldn't even hear us warning her. I know that Unna has seen a clear fluctuation across all indicators, and it's in prime observation condition, but pushing herself like that without regard for her own health is clearly against the most basic rules she taught us herself.
Worried about her, we've been following her.
The residents of the village all seem to know her very well. While still at the foot of the mountain, we rested a little and reorganized. Perhaps I should've tried to talk to her again...
......
We finally made it to the summit, but Eyjafjalla didn't start recording data right away.
Instead she dug a shallow hole and buried... a small rock.
Is something going to grow from this?
There are also the garlands of flowers she's been holding onto the whole time, and she kept hugging them tight even though she almost tripped a couple times. But suddenly, those two garlands just up and fluttered away. What a shame! Even though there wasn't any wind at all.
Still, I don't think I've ever seen her look so gratified...

Appointed as Assistant | Were you looking for these documents, Professor? Here you are. I personally believe that some of these theories aren't explained in enough detail. If you wanted a springboard for your ideas, I suggest referencing these two papers. I've added some of my own commentary, so feel free to look it over. |
---|---|
Talk 1 | The little lamb didn't go away even after the volcano erupted. It's actually been staying with me the whole time, and sometimes gets into trouble. H-Hey, you can't go standing on the Doctor's head! That's terribly rude! Sorry, Professor. Um, Can you see the little lamb? It's right here, hand to the right, and then down a little. Yeah, you're petting it right now. |
Talk 2 | This coat was Mom's old protective gear. Professor Keller once told me, this mark came from a sudden burst of magma. It almost left a scar on her, but Mom just laughed, saying she had good luck. If I were to go on an expedition with her, I'd probably need to be the one to lead. |
Talk 3 | Shh. Here, Professor, I snuck these over! I saw it all – you were muttering about how badly you wanted some snacks earlier, right? I've actually gotten pretty good at reading lips. Not to brag, but I might be better than Rhodes Island's intelligence agents by now. But, just maybe. |
Talk after Promotion 1 | I'm getting ready to head out, Professor. Another volcano is about to become active. While luck is still on my side, I need to go a bit farther, a bit deeper. I want to wear the brightly-colored ornaments, and get to the truth in the hot magma, just like Mom and Dad did. |
Talk after Promotion 2 | Professor, in a few days, I'll be going to Leithanien to attend a press conference and the premiere of my documentary. Our research is too obscure for the ordinary people who want to learn about volcanoes. But I still hope that one day, I can use this method to show everyone the beauty of volcanoes. |
Talk after Trust Increase 1 | Frostleaf has been going to Mousse's book club a lot these days. Earthspirit and Provence have been trekking far and wide. I've been exploring more volcanoes... Professor, I still remember those early days, when Mousse was so nervous she couldn't even talk, and Frostleaf was always alone. But look at them now... they're getting better. |
Talk after Trust Increase 2 | Hehe, Mr. Kahn's letter just arrived. He says he's really mad that Professor Keller and I went rowing on a sulfuric acid lake without protective gear. Mom and Dad did crazy things just like that before they had me, and they didn't bring Professor Keller along. So this time, so I took her with me! |
Talk after Trust Increase 3 | One moment, Professor, I'm changing out my hearing aid battery. Hmm? You're... Did you forget, Professor? I can read lips now. Besides, the sign you want should be like this, then this. What you just did was 'I have been suppressed by the volcano.' |
Idle | Phew... Even without my hearing aid, I can still pick up the little sounds of Professor's breathing… |
Onboard | Professor, I'm back, and I brought some souvenirs for you. I'll send them over to Dr. Kal'tsit and Amiya in a bit. I also managed to get a good amount of new data and specimens from Siesta's volcanic eruption. Would you like to come and take a look with me? |
Watching Battle Record | A volcano's every change and movement is fleeting. Only by capturing them on camera are we able to preserve every last detail. |
Promotion 1 | Our documentaries are being taken seriously? That's great! During my inspections in recent years, I've seen a lot of governments that don't trust our judgment and won't allocate resources to evacuate the residents. I hope I'll be able to make a difference. |
Promotion 2 | I know what you want to say, Professor, but I've never made my expeditions hard for myself. Starting from the smallest example, I bet you've never fried a fowlbeast egg over lava before, but I have! |
Added to Squad | How about a slice of lava cake before we head out? It was one of Mom's traditions. |
Appointed as Squad Leader | Volcano field investigations are extremely dangerous. Everyone, please follow my instructions. |
Depart | Please double check your protective gear. Also, remember to keep a safe distance from the lava, and give regular status reports. |
Begin Operation | Relax, volcano. We're just here to collect a few precious samples. Please don't get mad. |
Selecting Operator 1 | This time, we can make up for the missing data in the last report. |
Selecting Operator 2 | Don't worry about me, Professor. I've scaled a lot more volcanoes than you can imagine. |
Deployment 1 | Volcanic soot contains lots of Originium particles. Let's not stay too long. |
Deployment 2 | Magma will dredge up Originium veins. Keep your distance. |
In Battle 1 | Melt away, life-depriving stone... |
In Battle 2 | Ashes from vocalnoes, they consume and erase, then nourish and propagate. |
In Battle 3 | Those particles have no place here. I'll send them away. |
In Battle 4 | Oh, flowing magma, please slow your steps. |
4-star Result | We are one step closer to the truth of this land, Professor. |
3-star Result | Perhaps there will still be people gazing across this volcano a century from now. Their footprints will cover ours, and the seeds buried beneath the ash will bloom into even more beautiful flowers... |
Sub 3-star Result | Why…? I'm not seeing any errors in the formula or the data... Um? I think I see something surfing through the lava...? |
Operation Failure | Phew... Thankfully, the volcano didn't want to keep me that badly. |
Assigned to Facility | Professor, I brought the documents you asked me about. |
Tap | I heard you coming, Professor. I recognized your footsteps. |
Trust Tap | Professor, I know how good you are at learning. I can tell you're doing the wrong sign on purpose just to make me laugh! |
Title | Arknights. |
Greeting | Professor, the fault lines of mountain ranges and trenches are quietly moving beneath our feet. Little by little, they inch us closer to the volcanoes we hope to visit. |
