Quick Evaluation
+ Talent gives Indigo’s attacks a low chance to Bind the target
+ S1 turns her attack range into a long straight line and causes her to inflict many quick, weaker attacks over the duration; can be used to Bind multiple enemies, last-hit a weak enemy, or to quickly build up charges for a strong enemy
+ S2 makes Indigo’s attacks faster and more likely to Bind, and it also causes Bound enemies in range to take Arts damage over time; great for Binding multiple enemies quickly and increasing Indigo’s damage output noticeably for the duration, especially against bound targets since she won't directly attack them
= Doesn’t attack Bound enemies; sometimes this is good (i.e., it allows her to more easily Bind multiple enemies or build charges) and sometimes it’s bad (i.e., she stops attacking an enemy she could kill, or a ranged enemy that keeps attacking her)
= S1’s altered attack range can allow Indigo to hit enemies that other Casters wouldn’t, but it can also take important enemies out of her range
- S1 has a VERY short duration
- Usual archetype weaknesses: VERY slow ASPD
- S2 has poor uptime
- The low chance RNG nature of her Bind means that it cannot be relied upon, even with the increased ASPD of her Skills (especially with S1 because of the low duration)
- E2 is required to get any kind of reliability on her Binds, which makes her less competitive at E1 where 4 Stars often compare favorably with higher rarity Operators.
Operator Overview
Indigo is an inheritor of mysteries. There is something unusual about her Originium Arts—something that seems to be different about her on a genetic level—but she has no idea why. There is something unusual about the staff she uses—a staff that was given to her by her long-gone mentor—but again, she has no idea why. Even after observation by Blue Poison, Thorns, and other Operators, Rhodes Island is no closer to finding the answers to these questions. These observations have merely shown that the mysterious light that Indigo channels through her staff can cut off the nervous system responses of her enemies, making her a 4* Charge Caster who uses the Bind ailment to disable her foes.
As a Charge Caster, Indigo attacks slowly but with great power. In fact, despite being a 4* unit, she has one of the highest ATK stats in Arknights (although her terrible attack speed greatly reduces her overall DPS). In addition, when Indigo has no eligible targets in range, she begins storing energy, increasing the damage of her next attack. Indigo stores one charge, up to a maximum of three, every time her attack interval comes around with no eligible targets in range. This is important because the rest of Indigo’s kit interacts with this Trait in various ways.
Indigo’s Talent is Gentle Binding Gaze, which gives Indigo’s attacks a chance to inflict Bind on her target and also prevents her from attacking Bound enemies. This might sound annoying, but it actually works to Indigo’s advantage. If there are multiple enemies in range, she will spread her Binds around, and if there’s only one enemy in range, she’ll store energy while that enemy is Bound, ready to unleash immediately when it starts moving again.
This gets even more interesting when you introduce Indigo’s Skills. Her S1, Lighthouse Guardian, turns Indigo’s attack range into a long straight line while also dramatically reducing her attack interval and damage for a few seconds. This Skill can quickly bind several targets (if RNG is on her side) or snipe down a low-HP enemy (if RNG is not on her side), but it can also quickly build a full charge for Indigo’s next attack if there are no valid targets in her range--ready for the next unfortunate enemy to cross her path! Her S2, Labyrinth of Light, also reduces Indigo’s attack interval but otherwise has very different effects: it multiplies the chance that enemies will be Bound from Indigo’s attacks and causes Bound enemies in Indigo’s range to take Arts damage-over-time for the duration, even though Indigo still won’t attack them directly. Again, note the reduced attack interval! If all enemies in Indigo’s range are Bound, Indigo won’t attack any of them, so she’ll start building charges, only to release them explosively once the Bind wears off.
Charge Casters tend to be more “quirky and fun” than they are particularly useful. High ATK and the energy-storage mechanic can result in huge numbers for a single attack, but slow ASPD and bizarre Skills usually drag down their DPS. Indigo is a textbook example of this—despite the seemingly good synergy between her Trait and the ASPD increases of her Skills, her actual DPS in practice tends to be pretty low and unpredictable. Her Bind utility does not synergize well with the burst DPS design of her Archetype, and the Bind RNG chance is so low that it can’t be relied upon, even with the increase in ASPD (not to mention the almost comically low duration of her S1). Don’t write off this apprentice lighthouse keeper completely, though. With her unusual attack ranges, ranged Bind, and 4*-unit accessibility on her side, you can never be certain when a niche combination of circumstances will give Indigo a chance to shine.
Newbie Tier List Explanation
Her bind utility isn't going to be very useful to new players, and it doesn't become consistent until E2 anyway. Her skills and the archetype itself is not new player friendly.
Skill Discussion
S2M3 | C+ | C+ | B- | |
Indigo is not an easy unit to use and there are many quality 4 and 5★ Casters these days. That puts her at the pretty low end of priority. However, she does have a niche that becomes much more consistent to use with her Module, which makes her quite powerful in the right hands. If you are willing to tackle the challenge of using her, then S2 is the better Mastery. S2 is where her niche lies and has pretty significant gains over Mastery as well. The gimmick on Mystic Casters’ S1s is to quickly stack their charges, but it tends to be extremely situational depending on ranges, and you don't use Indigo for damage in the first place.

Operator Indigo shows no signs of Originium infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.12u/L
Back home, Operator Indigo rarely came into contact with Originium. Although she has come into contact with Originium-based products during her travels. Thankfully she had some decent protection... Uh, had decent luck.
Shut-ins are bound to have a decent health advantage.

Increase Trust to 50.There is something special about Indigo's Originium Arts. That light of hers is not as simple as it seems. My equipment made records of the room's magnetic field when she was casting, and after I removed much of the noise found in normal frequencies, I located a periodical combined waveform transform. This waveform has a certain... effect on the neural system of most living beings. Its effects are very weak, and it is hardly apparent as interference, but it's there. Perhaps this is the reason most of us feel warmth in her light.
With her permission, I looked into the inner structure of her Arts Unit. Unlike the Leithanian-made staffs commonly used today, her staff does not have a supporting conduction pathway. Hm... It is actually the Arts Unit on the top of her staff that is really doing the work here. I ran a simulation based on the component's maximum output, and the results show that it could power large facilities such as the massive factories found in Victoria. How did this Unit find itself on Indigo's staff? I discussed this with Thorns, who just happened to be walking by... He seemed to be in a pensive mood after taking a look at my test results and did not say much more. To tell the truth, this isn't like him at all.
Indigo does not seem to know much more as to the staff's origins as well. All she knows is that it was given to her personally by her teacher when she left her hometown's lighthouse. Therefore, this is as far as my research on this goes for the time being... I really hope that someone will provide me with more information on this in the future.

Increase Trust to 100.The first time happened when we first met. At the time, I thought she was an enemy. It took her about twice as long as a normal Phidia to lose consciousness from the toxins. It didn't take her long to come to either. It's interesting, don't you think?
No, please don't get the wrong idea. I'm not planning to run any experiments on her. She's my friend, and I'm not like that either. Of course... I ask you to please not have any funny ideas either.
Aria... is kind of clumsy. Last time, she got her hair stuck on my reagent cabinet. She knocked over a few jars and broke them, and breathed in too much of the toxic gas. As for this time... I guess, between the cake box and the petri dish, she probably picked the wrong thing to eat off of?
She told me that, while she was wandering the world, she had by mistake taken on bounties with bounty hunters and dealt in the black markets, where people good and bad alike mingle together. She's made a few 'friends' who know their way around poisons because of that, and perhaps the reason she's able to withstand toxins to such degree is because her body has grown used to getting poisoned over and over. We shouldn't underestimate what the human body is capable of—This is something that we toxicologists always like to say.
Okay, we've talked for a while now. She should be waking up soon. She's waking up sooner and sooner. I have other things to take care of, so could you give her this pair of new gloves?

Increase Trust to 150.Her impression is that the lighthouse has always been there. If it's daytime, the doors are always wide open for the residents, though very few residents would willingly make their way to the lighthouse. It was too close to the sea, and the adults all heard of the terrors of the sea from their ancestors, before passing them on to their children. Indigo's mother has taught her this many, many times, too. However, she was nonetheless captivated by the peculiar building. Whenever she had some spare time, the first thing that would come to her mind would be to run inside.
The lighthouse was where she met her teacher, a quiet, elderly Liberi who nonetheless showed the occasional sense of humor. At first, she refused to become Indigo's teacher and frequently feigned anger to chase away the girl whom she frequently found lying on the rocks next to the shore or climbing atop the lighthouse. In the end, the old Liberi was moved by her sincerity. The old lighthouse keeper needed a successor, and children who were interested in the lighthouse were few and far between. Year after year, the young girl learned much from her teacher. As she learned how to tend to the lighthouse and how to use Originium Arts to serve as its light source, she caught a glimpse of that golden age. She became obsessed with those sceneries of the past, none of which her parents, her neighbors, and her playmates could understand. Before long, she moved into the lighthouse to stay with her teacher and began to care for the lighthouse alongside her.
Once, when she pored over the records from those bygone eras, the girl spotted the term 'Guardian of Light.' She jokingly called her teacher one such guardian, and, upon hearing this, her teacher immediately fell silent. Enunciating her sentence word by word, the elderly Liberi told her: at this point, they were more like the guardians of the dark night.
The days went by much faster inside the lighthouse than the outside. After a rare rainstorm came and passed one night, her teacher forbade her from entering the lighthouse again. She told Indigo that she must leave her hometown, meet more people, and experience more things before she would be qualified to take over. From then on, Indigo has been on a journey, though she herself knows not how long this journey will last.
What must she discover until she is allowed to return home? It was not until she made her way to Rhodes Island that she finally realized what it was—She needs to find out how to restore the radiance that the lighthouse once possessed.

Increase Trust to 200.One thing that is apparent is the increase in the number of refugees. Some of them are trying to escape the worsening situation inside, while others were forced to leave their disaster-stricken homelands behind. We've noticed that these disasters that occur near the coast are noticeably different than the Catastrophes that frequently occur in other areas. We still have yet to be able to make it into several major Iberian cities, but we've already set up numerous offices within its territory near the borders. Our first and foremost goal is still the treatment of Oripathy patients in the nearby areas, but we will continue to monitor and investigate the abnormalities that occur here.
[Classified Log]
Per your wishes, we've recently managed to obtain some leads, and made contact with some pertinent Iberians. Let's start with the conclusion we've arrived at—Although research on the sea may seem to be a de facto taboo on the surface, it is certainly not a subject matter that's been completely ignored. There is a group of people, including Indigo's teacher, who have been following knowledge that has been passed down to them for generations and making preparations for something. Of course, we don't currently have nearly enough information on this matter, but now that we have leads, we will continue our investigation as necessary.
Promotion Record
Upgrade to Elite LV2.For some people, their strength does not come from their inherent talent, but instead their persistence toward a certain thing. That's the kind of person Indigo is. You can put your trust in her to bring forth that thread of radiance at the darkest hour.
Voice Lines
Appointed as Assistant | Hm... Huh? Did you say something? W-Why, I'm not ignoring you... I'm just... thinking of something else. |
---|---|
Talk 1 | I... I'm not very good at making conversation. I've always been alone. When I first left home to the outside world, I came across many people who were afraid of me. I even got my things stolen. It's no problem, though... As long as I still have my staff, I can work, so I don't often go hungry for long. |
Talk 2 | Life inside the lighthouse was hardly boring at all. The seas are always changing. However, my teacher drove me out of the lighthouse, and said to me, 'If you don't see more of this world, you won't be able to protect even a small corner of the sea.' That's how I made my way here. |
Talk 3 | Blue Poison gave me a new pair of gloves. Pretty, aren't they? She said the materials are improved as well. With these, it'll be harder for me to come in contact with any poison even if I hang out with my poison-wielding friends more. Actually, since I've been touching poisons by mistake all the time... it seems I may have built up an immunity. |
Talk after Promotion 1 | I used to gaze out at the sea each and every night. No one in town knew what it was we were guarding, and my teacher never told me. All I know is that, where there is darkness, there must always be lighthouses. I will stand firm, with all my power, until that day comes. |
Talk after Promotion 2 | Some people say this light is Originium Arts, but according to my teacher, this is a power that originates from my heart. With the light's guidance, those who sail through the foggiest nights will be able to resist the raging tides and find the correct bearing. That is why I will do my best to protect this light. |
Talk after Trust Increase 1 | My tail has a beautiful color? Thank you very much. It's okay. You may touch it. Despite the color, it's not poisonous. |
Talk after Trust Increase 2 | My hair can get tangled up if they get too long. Could you hold it for me? It takes time to get my hair set properly, but it makes it much easier to stay on the move while I'm on the battlefield. I want to be able to help you even more. |
Talk after Trust Increase 3 | I've been starting to think that humans and lighthouses are very much alike... Some people can shine much farther and brighter than even lighthouses. Like you, Doctor. Would it be okay if I stay beside you for a little longer before I go back? |
Idle | You don't need me to keep watch while you're asleep? Huh? You want me to join you? I-I'll try... |
Onboard | Hello, Doctor. My name is Aria... Uh, my mistake. It's Indigo. I used to be a lighthouse keeper... apprentice. Now, I'm a Caster... Also an apprentice. Please look after me. |
Watching Battle Record | Are these techniques for fending off enemies? My teacher taught me a little, but I didn't know you could do this. |
Promotion 1 | Huh...? A promotion? A lighthouse needs only one keeper. Is that... not the case here? |
Promotion 2 | Eh? I can do much more? It's true. My light is able to shine on a much larger area than before... Thank you. I will keep doing all I can. |
Added to Squad | Indigo at the ready. |
Appointed as Squad Leader | Very well... I'll keep this light up. Please be careful not to wander off. |
Depart | Follow the light, please. |
Begin Operation | If you won't let us pass through, then we have no choice but to defeat all of you. |
Selecting Operator 1 | I'm all ready. |
Selecting Operator 2 | The seas are roaring. |
Deployment 1 | My staff has warmed up. |
Deployment 2 | The light is building. |
In Battle 1 | These enemies do not compare to the seas' ferocity. |
In Battle 2 | I will stand guard here until daybreak. |
In Battle 3 | It's only for the evil in your heart that you fear the light. |
In Battle 4 | If you want to run away, let me guide you. |
4-star Result | Why, if we are so strong, perhaps we don't need to fear the coming of that day. |
3-star Result | Thank goodness. Another calm evening. |
Sub 3-star Result | S-Some enemies got away? I saw. We must let everyone know. |
Operation Failure | Doctor, this way... Don't be afraid. It doesn't matter how dark the path up ahead is, I'll light it for you. |
Assigned to Facility | It's okay. I'll be fine by myself. |
Tap | Oh... Be careful... My hair's all tangled up... It'll hurt if I trip... |
Trust Tap | You will stay here with me? Why, if there's two of us, the nights won't feel as quiet. |
