During battle, have Nightmare use Night Phantom a total of 12 times (excluding Support Units) |
Clear Main Theme S4-1 with a 3-star rating; You must deploy your own Nightmare, and cannot include any other Caster Operators as members |
RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ Can be very effective in a Slow stacking team
+ A very unique Caster that acts as an attacking pseudo-Medic with S1, or a higher damage Slower Supporter with S2
- Requires high Skill levels to become dependable, which is hard to justify for such a niche Operator
- S2 is auto-activation, which is extremely limiting for a skill where timing its use is so important (especially considering its charge time). It also has anti-synergy since slowing the enemies movement reduces the True damage dealt.
- S1: The Dodge is interesting, but there are much better options for ranged/caster tanks. Also, pure healing becomes less important in challenging content, so her hybrid nature will rarely be a better choice than a strong utility medic.
Operator Overview
“Stare deeply into my eyes. Feeling sleepy, aren’t you? Hehe… Now, how about you tell me where Rhodes Island stores its “Originium”?”
An Operator suffering from Multiple Personality Disorder, whose aggressive “Nightmare” personality often hides behind the meek-mannered “Gloria.” “Nightmare” is the source of her codename, as well as the primary user of her Arts, which combine DPS, Healing, and Slow utility into one eccentric package.
The key to effectively utilizing Nightmare is understanding her two very different Skills.
-
Her Skill 1 is Drain Soul, which causes her regular attacks to also heal nearby allies for part of the damage dealt. If a little more healing is required, but not a lot, this Skill may allow the player to use Nightmare instead of a Medic, thus satisfying the healing needs while at the same time increasing overall team damage. While using this Skill she also gains a good amount of Dodge, opening possibilities of using her as a ranged damage soak. Unfortunately, this Skill has a high cooldown and a long initial charge time, so it must be prepared well in advance and can’t be used too often. Better overall options exist for the ranged tank role, and pure healing becomes less effective toward end game content compared to healers that can bring other utility as well.
-
Her Skill 2 is Night Phantom, which inflicts the unique Nightmare debuff on enemies. This debuff Slows targets and deals True damage based on how far each target moves over the debuff’s duration. Night Phantom is particularly strong against fast-moving enemies and can be useful against enemy tanks. It also stacks with other common "sluggish" type slows, increasing its effectiveness for slowing strategies. The drawback is that the debuff requires targets to be moving, and reduces it's own damage potential by slowing the target. It does absolutely nothing to targets being blocked. This means skill-timing is very important to its effectiveness, which is extremely hampered by the activation being auto (so it can't be manually timed).
Nightmare should be considered a hybrid support Operator rather than filling the role of main DPS or healing unit. She has better base damage than Supporter Slowing units, but her utility options are harder to utilize. When deployed cleverly, she can be helpful, but her strengths are a bit too niche for her to be included in most teams.
Newbie Tier List Explanation
An extremely niche kit make her an Operator that no new player (or any player really) should be investing in for progression.
Skill Discussion

S1M1 | Breakpoint |
Nightmare is a fairly interesting unit, but she is not only incredibly hard to use but also subpar even with optimal play. It's really tough to recommend either skill. Both have serious flaws which limit their viability. Her S2 is a DPS skill with a reasonable cycle time, but it is auto-activated and only catches units already in her range. That makes it incredibly hard to properly use, and worse still, the snare works against her damage.
Conversely, her S1 has pretty strong HPS, and it's something to consider if you favor more niche-style clears, as she is the only Caster who can heal. However, this niche has little value in the general game and the skill has an absurd SP cost. It's a matter of picking your poison with Nightmare, with the best option being to invest your resources elsewhere.
S1 does have an extremely strong breakpoint at M1. She gains an extra target which doubles her output. It's worth grabbing if you are raising Nightmare, even if you don't think you will use her S1 very often.

Increase Trust to 50.Attempting to analyze Gloria is a long and difficult process ('Gloria,'her real name, is used in this report at her own request). In many therapy sessions, she clearly felt anxiety and panic, refusing to answer any questions in one session, leaving communication at a standstill. Using flowers and aromatherapy to relax her has been extremely effective thus far. After she understood the significance of her treatment and that none of the content of her sessions would be made public, her true meek nature gradually started to show.
Archive File 2
Increase Trust to 100.Gloria was born in a small, artsy city in Victoria. Her mother worked at the local hospital. Gloria did not show interest in Originium until middle school. Although she has shown a unique talent for it in her tests at Rhodes Island, she still does not want to deal with it.
Gloria worked hard to become a medical student, either due to her mother's expectation or her own desire. However, her infection disrupted her future plans. Today, Gloria is still unable to recall how she got infected (it is worth noting her sessions all alluded to an alternate personality, 'Nightmare,' and it seemed only 'Nightmare' could recall how it happened). Temporary memory loss is a common symptom of Oripathy, so all investigations should take that into account.
According to our intel, Gloria had at least six months of combat experience before joining Rhodes Island. Her militant 'Nightmare' personality seems to be the one behind the stint.
Archive File 3
Increase Trust to 150.Because of her studies on the medical application of Originium and her experiences as an infected, she can use medical arts to heal her teammates while also adept at combat arts. Her ability to do many types of arts is the basis for her role at Rhodes Island.
According to Gloria's own account, the staff her father left her has its own power. A number of tests done by warlock Operators has found the staff can increase the effectiveness of healing arts, but they must be performed in a manner similar to hypnosis. Feedback from test subjects also indicated they almost always dreamed in this hypnotized state. According to observation, the subjects quickly entered REM state, but did not experience other aspects of a normal sleep cycle. They remained in this state until awakened.
Archive File 4
Increase Trust to 200.It is not unusual for Oripathy to cause Multiple Personality Disorder, but Gloria, who is currently on a conservative treatment plan, is different from other Operators in stable condition. Her condition has a major hurdle: In moments where Gloria loses control, the very aggressive Nightmare takes over.
However, studies have indicated that Nightmare is the dominant personality and is very much awake inside Gloria. They have even seen Nightmare trying to regain control over her body.
The medical team was unable to assimilate Gloria and Nightmare into one personality despite counseling. Should we continue to let her work for Rhodes Island when she still has Nightmare? A doctor will have to develop a relationship with Gloria before we can make that decision.
Note: Dr. Kal'tsit made this statement about Gloria:
'Integrating her personalities is her only option.'
However, she did not specify which personality would become dominant after assimilation.
