RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ S1: Good burst DPS skill. Good DEF ignore, but the SP cost per charge and damage multiplier are mediocre. The skill can be used to reset her attacks.
+ S2: Good DPS once it is fully charged up.
+ Talent: enables her to quickly charge her Skills after deployment.
- Talent: SP recovery bonus only lasts for a minute after deploying.
- S2: With her high DP cost its going to be difficult to place her early enough to full charge her skill on most maps. This issue is further compounded by the reduced range.
Operator Overview
Pinecone was born in a tiny town out on the Columbian frontier, where the forests were filled with pine trees and the air was filled with the roar of industrial machinery. Some Operators are worried that Pinecone is too small and naïve to be part of Rhodes Island, but this little Liberi is tougher than she looks. She takes everything in stride, whether it’s fixing the air conditioning, finding a new portable battery, or loading up her nailgun as a 4* Boomstick Sniper for some DEF-ignoring DPS.
The characteristics of the Boomstick Sniper include a short attack range, true AoE attacks, and 150% bonus damage to adjacent enemies. As she does with everything else, Pinecone takes these conditions in stride and adds her own personal touch: her Portable Energy Source Talent, which gives Pinecone greatly increased SP regeneration for a decent duration after deployment. This Talent helps Pinecone quickly rack up charges of her RMA Spikes Skill, which boosts Pinecone’s ATK and ignores a portion of enemy DEF for the next attack. RMA Spikes charges are manually activated, giving the player great control over applying Pinecone’s burst damage. If you need more DPS over a smaller area, turn instead to Pinecone’s S2, Electrical Overcharge, an automatic Skill that reduces Pinecone’s attack range for a short time in exchange for an ATK buff. The trick is, the ATK buff increases each time the Skill activates (up to a cap). Given a bit of time and a convenient chokepoint, Pinecone’s Electrical Overcharge DPS can inflate to shocking levels.
Unfortunately, the characteristics of the Boomstick Sniper also include a high DP cost and a slow ASPD. The short attack range also means they rely on having enemies funneled into chokepoints, leaving them fairly map-dependent. Pinecone isn’t one to rock the boat, so she bears these disadvantages just like the rest of her archetype. However, as a 4* unit, she is slightly more affordable and accessible than her higher-rarity counterparts, and the way her Skills lean into her strengths make her very effective in those chokepoints. A little goes a long way, especially when this lovable Liberi is involved!
Newbie Tier List Explanation
Very strong early game. High DPS, and can handle the early game swarm requirements (so you don't have to develop an AoE Caster or other archetype that will be less useful and drop off sooner). She has great longevity and is relevant a long way into content. The controlled burst of her S1 can be very flexible/convenient, but also requires manual activation (too much manual skill management can overwhelm new players still learning and needing to focus on other aspects of the game). Some players may benefit from having their first E2 Operator be a 4*, since it will allow them faster access to E2 friend carry support units (this should not be done lightly, though). Pinecone is a strong option for this, as she has great DPS gains which will have a more noticeable gameplay impact than most other 4 star options.
Skill Discussion
S1M3 | B | B | B |
If you've watched any amount of low-rarity finesse clears before, then you've probably already seen Pinecone used. Her damage doesn't hold up with the end-game units but her strong damage in a true AoE has a lot of utility should you lack those options. Her S1 Masteries are very important to that end. Do be aware though that using her properly can entail a lot of 'babysitting' for her short cooldown Manual Activation skill which can make her really tiring to use. Try using her for a bit at E1 SL7 before you invest too deeply here.

Clinical Analysis
Increase Trust to 25.[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0%
Operator Pinecone shows no signs of Originium infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.14u/L
It is practically impossible for a Columbian workman to avoid coming in contact with Originium, and as testament to that fact, Operator Pinecone still keeps on her a few devices powered by Originium. Although there is hardly anything to complain about these devices' structures and applications, given how clumsy she is, it is advised that everyone at Engineering pay her some extra care.

Increase Trust to 100.Although she may not look it given her cute appearance, as someone who was born in a family of laborers, Pinecone has a lot of tricks up her sleeve. She has a decent handle on a variety of crafts and chores, and ever since she became a Rhodes Island employee, she has been training under our Engineering operators. Under their tutelage, she has picked up everything almost at a lightning pace as though it's all in her blood.
Pinecone even managed to complete the training room's maintenance work in half the time it would take other Logistics operators, and when asked, she simply answered, 'It all comes naturally to me... I guess? I'm not too sure myself... Anyway, I got it taken care of... I-Is there something wrong?'

Increase Trust to 150.Pinecone seems to be rather content about her current living situation. At first, we were worried whether her close contact with our Infected operators would give her any undue mental stress, but according to Pinecone herself, back in her hometown, Infected explorers would come and go in droves month after month to participate in Columbia's Great Expansion. When she was asked what she thought of this 'Great Expansion' herself, she gave a simple yet undeniably fascinating answer.
'The city... is a glorious place.'

Increase Trust to 200.It isn't uncommon to find Columbian laborers wind up in disputes with the big corporations. The insurance industry, having been built atop these games of words and conspiracies, naturally had a way with words to weasel out of paying their benefits. Of course, it should come as no surprise that the insurance companies were unwilling to pay for a medical bill this expensive. And while all parties involved were still trying to pass the buck, the hospitals naturally refused to treat a workman who was unlikely to be able to pay for his treatment. The reason this tragedy occurred in the first place is that Pinecone's father had signed a contract that was manipulated, allowing the construction company to legally get away from paying him any compensation.
Who could say a father who only ever wanted the best for his daughter and did everything to help her leave that small town was to blame? The contract he had to sign just to be hired as a construction worker was dozens of pages thick; it shouldn't be hard to tell where the problem actually lies.
All Pinecone could do was comfort her crying mother as her father signed his release forms, thus refusing any further treatment—Yet, out of nowhere, one of the material suppliers on the project sent them a substantial sum and footed the medical bill out of 'humanitarian concerns.' After that, the construction company's head honchos finally found the time to leave their offices and pay Pinecone's family a visit at the hospital, even promising to properly compensate her family. Naturally, Pinecone was bewildered by the company's sudden change in attitude after this secret benefactor came into the picture. She tried over and over to figure out who they were, but, after her constant probings, the construction company would only give her the name 'Simon Co.' 'Simon' is a very common name in Columbia, and it took a very long time for Pinecone to find out who it was that helped her family.
Similarly, even though Mountain was certainly seething when the disgraceful labor dispute was brought up during a meeting, he didn't actually know whose family his subsequent tirade had saved.
Promotion Record
Upgrade to Elite LV2.Given Pinecone's age and upbringing, she shouldn't have been dragged into the whole Mansfield mess. I don't know if Kafka was throwing things at the wall to see what sticks or actually had something figured out. After all, my guess is that not even Kafka knew if Pinecone could actually have fulfilled her role in the plan.
But why did Pinecone say yes to Kafka's proposal? Would an innocent girl like her normally say yes when asked to apply to work in a prison and help a felon escape?
The answer is actually very simple.
Kafka figured out what it was when she was looking through the files, and immediately located Pinecone, who was at the time aimlessly looking for a job.
'I've got a pretty nice job lined up for you... Well, there's a little more to it than that.'
'Remember how there was someone helped you out in that whole fiasco back then...?'
'Now it's your turn to help him.'

Appointed as Assistant | Doctor? No, I wasn't taking a nap! I... I was just spacing out! |
---|---|
Talk 1 | Is it raining outside? I used to really hate rainy days... There's mud everywhere, and the rain affects construction. My father always came home really late on those days. But it also feels really comfortable once the rain lets up, and it feels really nice to just stay inside my room, just like what we are doing right now. |
Talk 2 | When I used to be a construction worker back in Columbia, every day was a struggle. I had to get up early every morning and go to bed late every night. Sometimes, I even had to work overtime and didn't have any time to sleep... |
Talk 3 | Oh, Doctor, would you like to go somewhere together? Hm? Ahh...! W-Where's my tool bag...? Did I leave it at the construction site again? I-I'm sorry, I'll be back right away! |
Talk after Promotion 1 | What I want to do...? Hmm... as long as I have a stable job and get to live a honest life, I think that's good enough for me. In that case, why did I become an operator here, you ask? Well... The pay is a little better, and the work here isn't all that different, either... so I thought I'd give it a try... I guess? |
Talk after Promotion 2 | The Infected... There were a lot of Infected workers in Columbia... Everyone told me to stay away from them, but, just going by the way they work, I don't think they're any different from the rest of us. |
Talk after Trust Increase 1 | Oh... What was it that Ms. Closure wanted me to do for her again...? She's gonna be really mad if I go back and ask her... Um, Doctor? Do you think you can help me out...? |
Talk after Trust Increase 2 | My father always told me to study hard if I want a better life. Doctor, you know all sorts of things, right? Do you think you can teach me? I'll try my best to not zone out. I'll really try to. |
Talk after Trust Increase 3 | I never thought that much about the future before. I figured I would find work in the exploration teams and work as a craftsman my whole life. But now... I really need to thank the big guy. I wouldn't have met you if it wasn't for him... Uh... A-Anyway, I really appreciate what he did for me. |
Idle | Fwahh... I'm so tired... I guess maybe I'll take a nap with the Doctor... |
Onboard | Codename Pinecone... I'm starting at Rhodes Island today... Um... Have you seen my portable battery? |
Watching Battle Record | Um... Umm... I don't get it... |
Promotion 1 | Thank you, Doctor... But what should I do now? Oh... Do I just need to follow the others' examples? All right...! |
Promotion 2 | Hm...? Another promotion? Ehehe, you're pretty forgetful yourself, Doctor. Didn't you already give me a promot—This is a new one? Um... Okay. I'll always listen to what you say. So, when are we leaving? |
Added to Squad | It's my turn to shine now. |
Appointed as Squad Leader | I guess it's just like being foreman at a construction site? |
Depart | Um... Where are we going again...? |
Begin Operation | It's the enemy! Don't hold back, anyone! |
Selecting Operator 1 | Yes, I'm listening! |
Selecting Operator 2 | Your orders please, Doctor! |
Deployment 1 | Here, right? |
Deployment 2 | I'll stay right here like a nail. |
In Battle 1 | Haah! |
In Battle 2 | I still have lots of batteries on me! |
In Battle 3 | Pull the trigger! |
In Battle 4 | Just gotta think of it as driving nails! |
4-star Result | Phew... That was a lot harder than building a house. Doctor, that makes us kinda impressive, don't you think? |
3-star Result | That was perfect... Doctor, are you happy with how we did? |
Sub 3-star Result | Hmm... Maybe I did it in the wrong order...? I'm sorry. It didn't go as well as I was hoping. |
Operation Failure | Eh? Why are there sparks... S-Sorry... It's all my fault... |
Assigned to Facility | Yes, is there anything that needs maintaining? |
Tap | Ah...! |
Trust Tap | Doctor, want to watch the rain together? There's not much to see, though... |
