During battle, have Quercus use Echo of Life a total of 8 times (excluding Support Units) |
Clear Main Theme 9-2 with a 3-star rating in Standard Environment; You must deploy your own Quercus, and cannot include any Medic Operators as members |
RIIC Base Skills
Quick Evaluation
+ S1: This effectively turns Quercus into a medic, giving you a healing option with faster ASPD, unique attack range, and decent HPS.
+ S2: Great bursty SP battery operator that can help reduce a target operator's skill recharge time. It has a quick cooldown and provides a lot of healing and SP thanks to the bonus attack speed.
- Talent: weaker shelter buff than other options. Shelter is a generally poor gameplay mechanic.
- S1: It has a large SP cost so it can't be easily toggled and you will need to wait a while to activate it. No useful utility other than healing.
- S2: Operators get no SP if they aren't being healed. If enemies aren't actively attacking you, it can be easy to cap your HP during Quercus' skill duration and then she will stop healing and generating SP.
Operator Overview
Quercus has only recently been signed on as a Rhodes Island Operator, but she’s had years of contact with the organization. She has been regularly providing Rhodes Island with supplies of herbs and baked goods, and she recognizes many Operators by name, as well as their usual orders of preserved fruits or flower cakes. Don’t think for a moment that she’s a soft-hearted pushover, however. Not only has she been manipulating other Operators into lodging her own complaints about the Rhodes Island air quality (as she’s used to fresh, clean forest air) but she’s fighting on the battlefield as a 5* Abjurer Supporter, healing allies and generating SP so they can use their Skills more often.
Like other Abjurer Supporters, Quercus is a ranged unit whose attacks usually inflict Arts damage. However, she switches over to healing allies while either of her Skills are active. Also like other Abjurer Supporters, Quercus’ Talent—Forest Sanctuary—grants the Shelter effect (reduces incoming Physical and Arts damage) to allies within her attack range. Unlike some Abjurer Supporters, Forest Sanctuary applies to allies who are above a certain HP threshold, rather than below a certain HP threshold. This synergizes well with her ability to heal allies and means that the effect should blunt at least one attack per ally (though the power of the effect is not very strong, to compensate for its relative ease of use).
In order to heal allies, Quercus must activate a Skill. Her S1, Earth’s Benevolence, is a permanent Skill with a comparatively short charge time that can be turned off at will. Its effect is simple: it boosts Quercus’ ATK and activates her Trait, transforming her from a weak Arts DPS unit to a surprisingly responsive Medic. Because Abjurers have a much faster attack interval than Medics, Quercus has very good HPS with Earth’s Benevolence. However, she lacks the utility that the best Medics bring to the table. For utility, turn instead to the Echo of Life S2, which increases Quercus’ ASPD and causes her to restore 1 SP to every ally she heals. SP generation is very powerful—anything that allows you to use your best Skills more often tends to be!—and Quercus is an interesting source of the effect.
Before you try to have Quercus feed SP to Mudrock, there are some caveats to keep in mind. Most importantly, Echo of Life only applies SP upon successfully healing an ally. For a start, this means allies who can’t be healed (like Mudrock) cannot receive SP from the Skill. But it also means that allies who are at full health cannot receive SP either. This makes it difficult for Quercus to give SP to allies between enemy waves, and it can also make it tricky to give SP to ranged Operators (who are usually deployed so they won’t take damage) or other niche cases (i.e., Stalker Specialists, who have Block-0 and low aggro). On the other hand, she can be a pretty funny trick on poison mist maps or with Operators that damage themselves….
Without Echo of Life’s SP generation, Quercus doesn’t have much to offer beyond decent HPS and a weak Shelter effect. However, if you can leverage Echo of Life correctly, Quercus is somewhat like a Fire Emblem Dancer unit: she isn’t much on her own, but she allows your best units to act more often. Feed SP into a unit like SilverAsh, Fiammetta, or Gavial the Invincible and you may find yourself joining the legion of Quercus’ loyal customers.
Newbie Tier List Explanation
Her SP-Battery niche is not very relevant for new players, and her impact outside of that is typically underwhelming, especially considering it comes at the price of 5 Star development costs.
Skill Discussion
S1M3 | B- * | C * | C+ * | |
S2M3 | None |
* Note that this skill is graded assuming the unit has at least her base BLS-X Module, and preferably her upgraded Module. If you do NOT plan to get this unit's upgraded Module, treat the priority of this skill slightly lower.
The base Abjurer Module effect has a great impact on Quercus. It removes the reduction to her healing, which mixes extremely well with Quercus' infinite duration S1 and Shelter Talent. With her Module and S1 active, Quercus has some of the highest effective-Healing-per-Second in the game, which makes her a remarkably good off-Medic and a viable 5★.
A few points of caution are worth discussing before you spend all of your resources, however. First, she still lacks the utility that other top of the line Medics tend to have. It's rarely pure healing that makes a Medic truly good. Second, her wind-up time can be a really big issue compared to DPS oriented infinite duration skills. There isn't much way to make up for the loss of early sustain without a second Medic already. Finally, her S1 Masteries are relatively low in value. They only increase her healing output by around 7% which is a very poor number among Masteries.
Her S2 may be worth a look as well due to its SP charging potential, which this guide previously suggested, however it is quite hard to make optimal use out of. It might be something to consider if you are looking for some extremely Advanced sorts of situations, but her value these days is almost entirely in her S1.

Clinical Analysis
Increase Trust to 25.[Cell-Originium Assimilation] 0%
Operator Quercus shows no signs of Originium infection.
[Blood Originium-Crystal Density] 0.13u/L
Operator Quercus has a certain amount of exposure to Originium, but as her primary operation sites are in the wilds, there is little risk of crystal density increasing further.
Archive File 1
Increase Trust to 50.Though her Originium Arts can promote plant growth, Quercus will not use it to help save the wilted potted plants of other operators. 'While I could use my Originium Arts to revive your plants, that is not something the flowers ever wanted to show you. You'd better water them instead.'
'There are no issues with Rhodes Island's circulation or ventilation systems. If Quercus is mentioned in any complaint about the air quality sent by other operators, the contents can be safely ignored. There's a high likelihood of it being a psychosomatic effect after listening to Quercus.'
—Additional memo from an Engineering Department Operator
Archive File 2
Increase Trust to 100.While carrying out field missions abroad in Victoria, Quercus always has ways of turning her base into a popular spot for visitors. So far, she's tried setting up a flower shop, a jam bakery, and a co-op bookstore. Thanks to her cheerful and gentle image as a shopkeeper, all her business ventures have gone well, leading many to wonder if she's actually doing her job or just trying to live life to its fullest. Still, the contents of her reports have never given any cause for disappointment.
...Has she gotten addicted to the city's hustle and bustle? It's almost as if she's terrified of empty places.
Archive File 3
Increase Trust to 150.Somewhat to my surprise, she was not the dogmatic tribal healer I made her out to be, instead exhibiting an open-mindedness I rarely saw in the other locals. She candidly admitted that her traditional Originium Arts and herbal remedies were unable to treat many ailments.
Rhodes Island's hopes of treating Oripathy clearly appealed to her, and she provided the following conditions for her joining: she would not leave Victorian soil, she would not kill anyone in the line of work, and Rhodes Island would share its experiences of handling the Infected with her. I thought we would be able to meet all three of those conditions.
—Rhodes Island Operator, Bitter Root
[Classified Log]
According to Operator Bitter Root, Quercus should have a history of military service. Taking her test results and personal wishes in consideration, Quercus will serve as a Rhodes Island intelligence officer operating long-term in Victoria, reporting directly to Kal'tsit.
Authorization Change: From now on, Operator Quercus will report directly to the Doctor.
Archive File 4
Increase Trust to 200.Quercus has never taken the initiative to bring up her military service. Most of the time, she acts as if she'd never left the soil of her hometown. However, when Rhodes Island obtained her Special Forces combat history during a background check, she spoke openly about a conflict that broke out in a Victorian enclave, clearly reciting the full names of every young soldier under her at the time.
She made no attempt to turn away from the fact that she would go on to lose all her comrades-in-arms during the ensuing battles, an all-too-common experience. In her own words, she was already well acquainted with death, being the only healer in her hometown. She is even glad she managed to survive to the end, and was thus able to sing lamentations for each and every one of those children, sending them off in a foreign land.
While she did not explicitly admit to any regrets during the conversation, before she made the decision to join Rhodes Island she displayed an extremely cautious attitude, carefully inquiring about Rhodes Island's philosophy, course of action, and what we fought for. Presumably, she did not want to be deceived into taking up arms again. As for the young soldiers, who Quercus called 'children', they had apparently taken her rallying cries to heart, plunging into the conflict with full faith. While she returned home bitter and angry, they did not return home at all.
In response to her frankness, the HR operator answered her questions as thoroughly as possible. However, after signing her preliminary contract, she slyly asked the staff in charge of her onboarding: 'Since you don't need an army, what's the use of knowing that I was a soldier before?'
While Operator Quercus has been genuine with Rhodes Island, her statement also rings true. As a mere commander of a squad, there was no way for her to understand the internal political struggles in Victoria underpinning that conflict. Rhodes Island can trust her, but also needs to avoid thrusting her into certain subjects of investigation.

Promotion Record
Upgrade to Elite LV2.Many people harboring guilt in their heart would be reluctant to face the judgment back home, but Quercus, after returning from the battlefield weighed down by such feelings, knocked on the doors of each and every deceased, one by one, apologizing to their relatives waiting anxiously inside for being unable to bring back even a single ID tag.
Voice Lines
Appointed as Assistant | Last time I was an assistant, I think I was still thirteen or fourteen, treating people with my mum. Of course, I can do much more than hand out herbals and sing well-wishing verses now. If you need my help, ask away! Don't be shy. |
---|---|
Talk 1 | I think I've seen a few new faces this time after returning to Rhodes Island. Dr. {@nickname}, how does it feel to have more and more people under you? Do you feel that brimming and bursting vitality? We always say back home, rage against death with new life. |
Talk 2 | Rhodes Island Bridge-Climbing Competition? Dr. Kal'tsit shut that down midway, didn't she? Citing lack of safety ropes for all the contestants and so on. Well, I wasn't that likely to win it, and the look on Dr. Kal'tsit's face was a much greater sight to see anyway. |
Talk 3 | You look put out with all these reports on your desk. Don't worry, if there's any danger, I'll know it by the scent. But! If you just don't want to work, I can't help you there. |
Talk after Promotion 1 | Of course it's much easier to gather intel when you're a lone operator. But every time I'm in the country, I pick a bag full of berries while I'm free, and I think to myself, maybe I want someone to share with after all. Otherwise, I've got no one to tell me how great I am at picking. |
Talk after Promotion 2 | You get the sense I served from how I work? You only got that impression from seeing my files. Service members come in all shapes and sizes, too. Some only like to read and research their comms tech, some spend all day dreaming about going on holidays in the city to see idol concerts... |
Talk after Trust Increase 1 | Dr. {@nickname}, you might be covering your face, but I can tell you've perked up a lot more compared to when you came back from Chernobog. But if you spend the whole time under this low of a ceiling, your mind'll get dull. Head out onto the deck every now and then. Get some fresh air. It's good for you. |
Talk after Trust Increase 2 | When I looked after the ill back home, I ran across a couple Infected calling themselves 'Reunion'... and then I got into a fight with them. I can't stand it, seeing those children with firelight in their eyes lost in all the pointless violence, about to burn themselves through. |
Talk after Trust Increase 3 | Those who depart us receive the land's forgiveness, and rest in her embrace... but some people go too quickly, the roots of the forests of their homes unable to hold onto their hands. Was that not like me, being so serious? You really should've seen me when I worked back home. |
Idle | Not sure if the Doctor's a light sleeper... I'd better stand watch quietly. |
Onboard | Nice to meet you, Doctor. Call me Quercus. It's the first time we've met, but the intel on your desk about northern Victoria is straight from me... What, even you're going to tell me my reports aren't standard? |
Watching Battle Record | I wish I'd learned all this a little earlier. |
Promotion 1 | What's this promotion come out of nowhere for? My candied fruit must make a strong impression. |
Promotion 2 | In my hometown, you had to make a choice with Originium Arts. Whether to terrorize others, or to aid them... The result of my greed was that I couldn't commit properly to either. Even so, would you still have faith in me? |
Added to Squad | As long as it's your decision, I'll have no objections. |
Appointed as Squad Leader | It's a major responsibility. |
Depart | Shouldn't we consider marching routes other than on the ground? |
Begin Operation | The more defined a battle's goal is, the clearer tactics become. |
Selecting Operator 1 | Will the land shake with fury, or display her mercy? |
Selecting Operator 2 | If you're still hesitating, I can give some advice. |
Deployment 1 | I will stand guard here. |
Deployment 2 | Beginning collection of battlefield information. |
In Battle 1 | The land will forgive all in the end, but not now. |
In Battle 2 | The wind blows through; the leaves tell stories of those who sleep. |
In Battle 3 | Arbor, reach your hands to me. |
In Battle 4 | I remember your face as well, now. |
4-star Result | Wow, incredible! I've got the urge to snap a formal salute just to show my respect. |
3-star Result | That was a perfect operation! Once we're back, dinner will taste even better. |
Sub 3-star Result | They can't be running far. Do you plan to pursue? |
Operation Failure | It's alright, let me organize the retreat. I leave our next counterattack to you. |
Assigned to Facility | It always feels a little hard to catch my breath when I'm shut in here for long. |
Tap | Oh? Are you as much of a prank-lover as all those kids? |
Trust Tap | You want to hear me sing? Do you know who our songs are sung for? Usually, it's for the gravely ill. |
Title | Arknights. |
Greeting | You're back here in your office again, Dr. {@nickname}. Have you refreshed your body and mind well? |
