Should You Pull?

Probably not, unless you really want to take advantage of their gimmicks. Beeswax has pretty unbelievable DEF for a Ranged Operator as long as her Skills aren’t active, making her a great ranged damage soak. Chiave has a RES debuff skill and greatly reduces the redeployment time of Robot Operators, making their on-deployment Skills more usable. There are specific playstyles that jive very well with either of these Operators, but you might prefer to spend your resources on a banner with a 6★ Operator on rate-up instead.

Even if you’re not interested in either of these Operators, you might still consider doing Headhunt x1 until you pull a 5★ or higher Operator, since one is guaranteed in the first 10 rolls.

Quick Overview

Modal Caster

+ Has HP regen (Talent), DEF +200% (Trait), and RES +20 (Trait) while her Skills are not active, putting her on par with multiple Defenders

+ Attacks all enemies within her unique attack range while her Skills are active

+ S2 summons a Block-3 obelisk to a square within her range, absorbing damage and Stunning enemies upon creation

- Loses her massive survivability bonuses when using her Skills, but can’t attack unless her Skills are active

- Limited duration of obelisk means it usually can’t replace a dedicated Blocker

Skill-DP-Recovery Vanguard

+ Talent gives Chiave an ATK and DEF buff for every deployed 1* Operator and gives all 1* Operators greatly reduced redeploy time

+ S1 generates a lot of DP (the same amount as other 5* Skill-DP-Recovery Vanguards)

+ S2 instantly generates DP, deals Arts damage to nearby enemies, and reduces the RES of all damaged enemies

= Compared to popular 5* Vanguard Texas, Chiave does slightly more damage and inflicts a RES debuff, but he can’t Stun enemies

- Usefulness falls dramatically if you’re not using 1* Operators and/or taking advantage of the RES debuff

Beeswax

Beeswax is the first truly dark-skinned Operator released on Global servers, and that’s only one of the reasons to take notice of her. She’s also debuting a new Operator archetype: the Modal Caster, who switches back and forth between a defensive “passive mode” when she isn’t using a Skill and an aggressive “active mode” while one of her Skills is active. When in “passive mode,” Beeswax triples her DEF and more than doubles her RES; when in “active mode,” she attacks all enemies in her attack range and (if using her S2) creates an obelisk with Block-3 to Stun her enemies and obstruct their advance!

Chiave

Chiave loves tinkering with machines and robots, so it’s no surprise that his special Talent—Technical Expertise—involves working with Rhodes Island’s Robot Operators. Technical Expertise gives Chiave bonus ATK and DEF for every 1* Operator on the field, and it also gives all 1* Operators dramatically decreased deployment time. Would you like to use Castle-3’s Tactical Configuration buff every minute? How about Lancet-2’s global Support Spray healing? Chiave makes this possible! And that’s not all: he boasts a Skill-DP-Recovery Vanguard’s DP generation as well as some potent AoE Arts damage with his Flame Stripping S2, which damages nearby enemies and leaves behind a nasty RES debuff.
