Pathfinder of Sands: Dorothy
Should You Pull?
If you want Dorothy, YES. Otherwise, no.
She's here at last! Dorothy is the perfect blend of “strong” and “fun” for Doctors who like to play creatively. She’s not one of the strongest Operators in Arknights, but she pulls enough weight to be worth the investment, and the more creatively you place her traps, the better she performs. The Trapmaster playstyle is not for everyone, and you can easily pass on Dorothy if you’re not interested in her quirks. If you are interested in Arknights’ first 6★ Trapmaster, however, then this banner is one you shouldn’t miss.
As with all banners, a 5★ or higher Operator is guaranteed in the first 10 rolls. Should you pull just for that? NO. Ptilopsis is very good if you lack AoE Medics, but unfortunately Greyy the Lightningbearer is extremely undertuned.
Quick Overview
+ Usual archetype strengths: Places traps on the field to hinder enemies; traps have high damage multipliers when they go off
+ At E1, her Talent summons a free Resonator within her attack range as soon as she is deployed
+ E2 Talent grants Dorothy a stacking ATK buff each time a Resonator is triggered (up to a cap)
+ S1 Resonators reduce enemy DEF (great team utility)
+ S2 Resonators inflict Bind on all enemies within range; if only one target is within range, the Bind duration is greatly increased
+ S3 Resonators do Arts damage in a cross shape, inflict Slow, and trigger all other Resonators within the blast range, which can then set off more Resonators, creating a cascade effect if your trap placement is good
- Usual archetype weaknesses: Very low base ATK limits trap damage; Traps cannot be placed on a grid where an enemy is already standing
+ As an AoE Medic, heals up to three friendly units at a time
+ Passively increases SP-per-second regeneration for all allies on the field
+ Incredibly powerful S2, granting rapid-fire healing to allies within an increased range
+ The preferred AoE Medic for many Doctors in situations where there are no Arts-DPS enemies on the field
- S2 has a very long cooldown, so use it carefully
+ Usual archetype strength: Wide attack range; attacks deal splash damage
+ Talent and S2 can both Slow enemies
+ S2 places a lightning ball on the field that deals multiple hits of damage while Greyyalter continues to attack
= Usual archetype dilemma: Attacks deal two separate hits of damage; good against low-DEF enemies, bad against high-DEF enemies
= Talent and S2 have a separate chance to Slow enemies, but the chance per hit is not very high
- Usual archetype weakness: Attacks (including the splash damage) can only hit ground enemies
- Low damage output; in particular, the lack of DEF-ignoring abilities (compared to Rosmontis) seriously hurts his performance
- Has no utility other than his unreliable Slow
Dorothy
Dorothy Franks didn’t rise to the position of Director of Rhine Labs by playing fair. With a passel of Resonance Device traps under her arm, she takes to the battlefield with all kinds of underhanded tricks: reducing enemy DEF; Binding foes in place; or using one Device to set off another… and another… and another for a screen-spanning explosion!
Ptilopsis
Ptilopsis is one of the most popular AoE Medics in Arknights, and for good reason. In addition to skillfully covering the healing needs of her team, Ptilopsis increases the SP regeneration rate of [Per Second] SP charge Skills, helping her allies use their Skills more quickly and more often. And don’t forget her Enkephalin Skill, which unleashes AoE healing at ridiculous speed across an increased range, helping her allies survive even the most determined of enemy assaults.
Greyy the Lightningbearer
Greyy the Lightningbearer has poured his heart and soul into designing new technology that can benefit Rhodes Island, in order to repay them for saving his life when he was just a sickly orphan with Oripathy. His current inventions are the Light-stealing Chain Talent—which has a chance to Slow targets he attacks—and the Beacon of Dawn, a lightning-generating orb that repeatedly attacks all enemies in an area. Who knows what he might come up with next?
